Golden Eagle is distilled once from 100% Montana-grown red wheat. Most vodka gets filtered again and again until nothing of the grain remains. We stop before that happens. What is left is the natural sweetness and nutty flavor the wheat actually has, not something added back in, just something we chose not to take out.

The brand is transparent about how it's made, naming the exact wheat and process rather than leaning on vague premium language. Dakota built the brand from a decade of firsthand bar experience and a specific thesis about the category, the kind of founder conviction BrandAmped looks for. And vodka is the largest spirits category with the least differentiation, which means there's real room for a brand with actual character to find its consumer.
Founding Story
The TTB changed the federal standard of identity for vodka in 2020, removing the longstanding requirement that vodka be produced “without distinctive character, aroma, taste, or color.” The change meant vodka could legally retain more of the character of its raw ingredients and production process.
Golden Eagle was developed around that opportunity. Rather than repeatedly distilling and filtering the spirit to achieve neutrality, the product was designed to preserve the grain's natural flavor and texture.
Golden Eagle is made from Dark Northern Red wheat, a hard red spring wheat grown in Montana. The growing conditions include elevation, significant solar exposure, and large temperature swings, which contribute to grain development. Golden Eagle is distilled once rather than repeatedly distilled, and only the hearts of the distillation are used, removing the heads and tails while retaining the desirable character of the wheat.
The finished vodka has natural notes of toasted almond, brioche, vanilla bean, and citrus. Those flavors are not added to the vodka; they come from the grain and production process.
Golden Eagle refers to this approach as American Character Vodka: vodka designed to retain the flavor, texture, and character of what it is made from rather than being produced specifically to achieve neutrality.

Dakota Blaze Rader
Dakota went back to school at 24 to study brand marketing after spending about a decade working behind the bar and in restaurants throughout Los Angeles and Orange County. While completing his MBA, he focused his thesis on vodka and why the category had historically been built around neutrality rather than flavor and character.
His research eventually expanded into grain, agriculture, and distillation, including a search for flavorful American-grown grain that could be used to make vodka differently. That research led him to Montana and Dark Northern Red wheat.
Montana also has a connection to Dakota’s family that goes back more than a century. His great-great-great-grandfather came to the United States from Holland in 1886 and settled in Blue Creek, Montana in 1901, where the family homesteaded. The family connection wasn’t what originally led Dakota to Montana, but it became an important part of the Golden Eagle story as the product developed.
Dakota’s background in hospitality also goes back to childhood. His parents owned a restaurant, and he grew up working alongside them, from rolling silverware and bussing tables to learning how restaurants operate. He later spent roughly ten years behind the bar before moving into brand development and eventually founding Golden Eagle.
